Mit „Half Town Blues“ hat die in Wien ansässige Band The Blues Infusion ein Musterbeispiel für die gelungene Verbindung eines traditionellen Bluesverständnisses mit den modernen Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten des Blues und Bluesrock hinbekommen. Little Walter mit „Up The Line“, Sonny Boy Williamson mit „Still Wonder“ und Junior Wells mit „Little By Little“ sowie ZZ Hills „Down Load Home Blues“ liefern quasi die Vorlagen. Die Band nimmt die Pässe auf, dribbelt elegant und landet diverse Volltreffer. Im Mittelpunkt stehen Gitarren, die Orgel und bisweilen auch eine Trompete. Das Ganze ist durchaus rocklastig, aber eben kein Bluesrock im engeren Sinne mit den obligatorischen Gitarren-Breitseiten. Im Gegenteil, die Songs wurden luftig und transparent arrangiert, und jeder der insgesamt elf Titel für sich hat das gewisse Etwas, das ihn unverkennbar macht und von den übrigen abhebt. Adaptionen von John Hiatt und Robben Ford, also von Künstlern der nachfolgenden Generation, sind zudem Fixpunkte und zusätzliche Highlights eines Albums, mit dem eine Band zwar nicht den Blues neu erfindet, aber beispielhaft ist für eine gelungene Übersetzung einzelner Kapitel aus der Blueshistorie in eine zeitgemäße Sprache. Das mache dem Quintett aus Wien erst mal einer auf dermaßen beeindruckende Weise nach. (lei)

Blues aus heimischen Landen, mit dem Prädikat „besonders wertvoll“. Die jüngste CD rund um Mastermind, Gitarrist und Songwriter Peter Peduzzi  strotzt vor musikalischer Aktualität und Spielfreude. Dies belegt – eindrücklich – bereits der Opener, ein rhythmisches Cover von Little Walters „Up The Line“. Das würde auch Al Basile kaum besser hinbekommen.. Mitverantwortlich dafür ist unter anderem der Trompeter Simon Plötzeneder, der etwa bei Dave Liebman in die Schule ging. Er ist auf etlichen Tracks zu hören, was die Band bisweilen mit leicht jazzigen Anflügen versieht. Es stehen die eigenen Songs wie „Stomping Farewell“, „Bubble Blues“ oder der durch Werner Müller orgelinfizierte Titelsong gleichberechtigt neben den Covers. Es sind auch insbesondere die Vocals, welche The Blues Infusion heraushebt. Peter Dürr intoniert erfrischend gelassen, stilsicher und selbstbewusst, in bestem Sinne „contemporary“. Die groovende, klare Produktion tut ein Übriges, um den exzellenten Eindruck des Tonträgers zu untermauern.

 This Austrian band is really stepping on the throttle with the particular way of performing good rockin’ blues, a style they feel deeply influenced by. In spite they display a very actual sound, they do not despise the most traditional and genuine blues, and they also present their own compositions also with influences of these musical styles. The band includes Peter Dürr on vocals, Peter Peduzzi on guitars, Fritz Salek on bass, Werner Müller on keyboards and Dusan Milenkovic on drums. Since they were selected to represent their country at the European Blues Challenge 2017 in Horsens (Denmark), they have all grown in quality, improving their style as well as their technique and inspiration. For this last recording they have selected eleven exciting songs, most of them Peter Peduzzi’s own compositions, although they also include versions of songs coming by Little Walter, J. Hiatt, Mel London, Sonny Boy Williamson, Robben Ford and ZZ Hill. The way they develop these covers together as well as their own songs is really amazing, not only for the fresh air the band always give to them, but also for the careful and savoury arrangements. This is an album good fans should keep on mind. GREAT.

"THE BLUES INFUSION produziert eine exzellente Fusion von Blues/Jazz/Rock. Mit neuem Power-Sänger (Peter Dürr) vertrat das Qintett sehr beeindruckend Österreich im April 2017 bei der EUROPEAN BLUES CHELLANGE in Dänemark. Nach der glänzenden Debüt-CD STEPPING KEYS bastelt man schon am nächsten Album.

The Blues Infusion is well known in the Austrian blues scene. Settled on the capital Vienna, they have practically played in each Austrian corner and have participated several times at the famous Vienna Blues Spring festival. Some years ago The Blues Infusion overcame their country borders as well as classic blues borders to give us a more sophisticated blues approach, more in accordance with the new century times. There were guitar player Peter Peduzzi and bass player Fritz Salek who founded the band in year 2009. After various changes they have included some of the most experienced and able Austrian musicians such as Peter Dürr on vocals, Werner Müller on keyboards and Dusan Milenkovic or Mick Glantschnig on drums. With them the band performs a more eclectic music without leaving aside the special place they have always kept for the blues. In fact the album was recorded in year 2013 and now the group plans to publish a new one this year but, until the moment it sees the light, you can get a copy of this "Stepping Keys", which will surely call your attention. VERY GOOD.

Eine gelungene Scheibe einer weiteren österreichischen Bluesband, nämlich von „The Blues Infusion“. An der Stimme Michael Schuberth, sowie Peter Peduzzi, Gitarre, Bernhard Käferböck, Tasten, Fritz Salek, Bass, und Andi Menrath, Schlagzeug. Auf „Spin Doctor“ spielt Simon Plötzeneder die Blasinstrumente.

Das Repertoire besteht neben klassischem Blues von B.B. King „You Upset Me Baby“ oder Willie Dixon „I Just Wanna Make Love To You“ auch aus Eigenkompositionen wie „I Look So Tough“ oder „Jimmy M“. Die Musiker beherrschen ihre Instrumente hervorragend, herausragend auch der Keyboarder Käferböck. Wieder einmal ausgezeichneter Blues-Rock aus Österreich. (Fra, CONCERTO 4/2013)
